A Bit of a Scare
« on: September 07, 2013, 08:32:56 AM »
Early yesterday evening I start feeling unwell. At first I put it down to severe indigestion but as the evening progressed the pain spread higher into my chest and to my back. The pain was the worse I every experienced, even more than the pain I had recovering from heart surgery!

Fortunately my brother was over for the weekend and we called for an ambulance. The paramedic arrived promptly and wired me up to check my heart. Nothing obvious, no indication of a heart attack but the ambulance arrived and because of my heart history whisked me and brother off to A&E. The pain was still really, really bad, the morphine they gave me didn't seem to help.

In A&E they took another couple of ECGs, took blood, put a cannula in and then finally, after checking everything, gave me painkillers. Slowly the pain receded.

My brother came in and they moved me out of resus to a cubicle to recover. A few hours later (about 3am) the blood results came back; the pain had receded to a feeling of soreness  around my upper abdomen so they said I could go home.

So it turned out to be a seriously bad case of indigestion  redface:

However the blood test did show up possible problems with my liver  eeek: so they are going to refer me for further tests.

Hope you're all better soon Uncle, that must have been seriously scary.

I'd suggest your docs prescribe a good dose of West Ham watching but apparently that's been in very short supply for some years now
Well, whatever, nevermind

Sorry to hear of the distress Uncle, but if they have made an early discovery of a liver problem, it might have been worth it.

Sorry to hear that Uncle, not the best way to spend a night.
It's better than I ever even knew.  They say that the world was built for two.  Only worth living if somebody is loving you.  Baby now you do.
