Melodic Heavy Metal - WTF's that?

Came across this in my webanderings.

What exactly is Melodic Heavy Metal? If I'd been asked I'd have said it was an oxymoron like "civil service" and "military intelligence" and so on.

Anyway, I quite liked it - strangely. The video was good too.
