Last week I received a copy of letter sent to my GP concerning referral for a minor operation. Day later GP surgery calls and makes a booking for a Doctor to phone me for what I assume is about the referral.
15 mins ago the Doctor calls. The call was booked for 4:10 this afternoon but that's OK, no harm in ringing early on the off-chance I would be in.
Doc ~ "Hi, it's your doctor, what can I do for you?"
Me ~ "Hang on, you wanted to speak to me. That's why the surgery booked the call."
Doc ~ "Oh"
Anyway I said it was probably about the referral and mentioned the copy of the letter I received.
Tapping sounds on the line as Doc looks at computer.
"No letter here, I must have seen it but it's not been scanned in. Can you read me your copy?"
Banghead
So, we get on and he asks me which hospital I preferred. I tell him; more tapping occurs.
"I can't seem to be able to make a booking"
Banghead Banghead
Doc gives up and tells me the office will sort it out and will call me when I can go and collect the paperwork.

When the booking eventually comes through, make sure it isn't for a hysterectomy.
I have more faith in the Vet than the GP.

Op called off!
Been to see my cardiologist today (regular check up) and she has insisted that any op needs to be performed in a major hospital with full emergency facilities. Also she wants to personally vet the anaesthetist. All just in case like eeek:
Probably going to be done at UCH in London now.
I also mentioned I've been feeling a bit poorly lately. She immediately arranged a blood test and said I must go and see my GP ASAP.
It's like having a new mum confused:

Finally got an appointment for the op. ~ Next Tuesday scared2: However on discharge from hospital this afternoon the consultant (who does the same op locally) has advised me that one week is too soon after my recent biliary colic. At the moment he's not wrong, I feel like shite.

Nothing much and that's what I mean.
Finally met the great consultant himself, Mr Patel. That was after he had sent his minion to scout out the land and then later by his Registrar to examine me and tell me the general plan. She could see I was not happy, so off she scampered.
The inflammation has subsided (hurrah!) and is nowhere near as tender as it as been but he doesn't intend to operate for at least 2 - 4 weeks from now. I have to stay in at least for the next few days while the cardiac teams assess me then the plan is to discharge me with antibiotic cover and hopefully good pain relief and assuming nothing happens I'll return for the operation whenever.
I'm here, I'm in reasonably good condition, let's get the bloody thing out!

Latest idiocy:
I get a phone call to tell me that they want to book be in for a pre-assessment appointment on Monday. So here I am sitting here in hospital, hopefully getting discharged on Friday and they then want me to traipse all the way back for a clinic visit.
I told them to f... off.

It gets worse; another call from pre-admissions, if don't attend the clinic on Monday, as an outpatient, then I don't get my operation on the 14th. This because the swabs they take are invalid if I come back on the ward (possible infections)
Unfortunately due to a chance in my medications and the fact I've still not been assessed by the cardiac team I'm likely to still be in over the weekend.

Sorted: After a rant at me doctor he's been running around all afternoon organising the plan.
Discharge tomorrow, back on Monday for the pre-assessment, then back again on Friday the 8th to be assessed by the cardiac anesthetist followed by the operation on the 14th.
Fingers crossed.
