Title: Bliar named Philanthropist of the year???
Post by: Grumpmeister on September 03, 2014, 02:19:05 AM
I wasn't sure whether to put this into fantastic headlines or Shouting at the news instead but something this mind blowingly stupid deserves its own thread. How the hell does this evil deranged self obsessed lying tosser qualify as a philanthropist? Who else was in the running for crying out loud Kim Jong Un, Vladimir Putin, Benjamin Netanyahu and Bashar al-Assad? This is the man who's 'charity' work has included advising the leader of Kazakhstan how to improve his image after his police slaughtered unarmed protesters. And lets not even get started about the results of his work in the middle east that has made the rest of the world so safe.  noooo:

What's next ISIS get the Nobel Peace Prize?  Banghead

In the more literal meaning of a philanthropist, a lover of mankind, I should think he fits the bill.

He must be totally smitten with the masses who keep pouring cash into his slimy pockets.  evil:

I started looking at the other awards that were given out and some of them show just how much of a joke the whole thing is starting to become. Kim Kardashian as woman of the year, are you fucking serious? Woman of the year should be awarded to someone who has worked tirelessly, say someone like Malala Yousafzai who even after being shot in the head by the Taliban for going to school STILL campaigns for the right to education for women. It certainly should not go to some vacuous tart who's claim to fame boils down to an 'accidentally' released sex tape, an inane 'reality' TV show and a string of exes who have actually earned their fame through hard work.

Giving Kim something like this just means that there are going to be loads of young impressionable girls who end up deciding that she is an ideal role model and someone to look up to.  Banghead

It appears that money is going missing at Tony's Faith Foundation. Now I could be being overly cynical here but if the figure quoted is £50k then something tells me the actual amount is going to be a hell of a lot higher.  rubschin:

Any theories on where the cash ended up folks?

And I wonder just how many other secret deals Tony has set up under the table. And as for the claim that this had nothing to do with the middle east, just how do you come to that conclusion? The SAUDI ARABIAN oil firm that paid you £41k PER MONTH not and that's before any commission from deals brokered is run part owned and run by a member of the Saudi royal family if that wasn't dodgy enough on it's own the fact that you made sure the deal would be kept secret is even more damning.

You role as middle east peace envoy requires you to he honest and have no conflicts of interest. Well guess what, you fail on both counts and while I know that this will never happen because your bank balance is more important than your sense of honour but anyone with even a minuscule degree of integrity who had been caught in this position would have fallen on their sword, resigned, and at least considered paying back their taxpayer funded wages is shame.

and now the bastard gets an award from Save the Children. Obviously well deserved because we all know he did so much work to protect children in Afghanistan and Iraq, not to mention in those shithole dictatorships his foundation is 'advising' on how to improve their image.

I can see this backfiring badly on the charity, wonder how they are going to continue with donations going through the floor as a result but well done to the 200 staff who stood up and said that is was morally reprehensible to give him this award.

More trouble for Tony, it looks like his bribe to get back into the good graces of the party gift to Labour candidates is being hammered by the party faithful.

Quote
Although he has said he has no desire to return to front line politics in the UK, friends say he is distressed by the way the party he led to three election victories has turned its back on him.

I wonder why that would be, your track record while in office aside perhaps they don't want to be connected to someone who does PR work for dictators.  rubschin:

A Labour candidate for the general election has said she is turning down a £1,000 donation from Tony Blair.

Councillor Lesley Brennan is standing for the Dundee East Westminster seat on 7 May.

It has been reported that former prime minister Mr Blair is donating £1,000 to 106 Labour candidates.

Ms Brennan tweeted: "Received donation from Tony Blair. Instinct was to not accept. Discussed with team. Dundee East is not accepting the £1000."

You arrogant self important gobshite, how dare you stand there and declare that the terror threat has intensified in the last 10 years and that we all need to fight against it as if you are some kind of expert. Perhaps if you had been actually acting in your role as peace envoy to the middle east instead of filling your pockets with dictator's gold at every opportunity the threat we are now all under would be far less.

Tell you what Tone, why don't you put your money where your mouth is for once and head over to join the volunteers who are fighting against these terrorists.

Maybe not locked up but a class action suit from all the families of servicemen killed or wounded during that clusterfuck on the grounds that he had already decided to send in troops before evidence was 'found' to justify the act could have a damn good chance of wiping out a good chunk of those millions he has 'earned' over the years.  rubschin:

So you think that history will be more balanced when it comes to judging you. Well I hate to disappoint you but it's a pretty much dead cert that you will be remembered as a despicable lying pile of shite who fed the population a load of bollocks ranging from weapons of mass destruction to the need for regime change in order to justify an action that you had decided about long beforehand. And as for that pathetic excuse for an 'apology' you gave the other day, if you were truly repentant then you would donate the money you made both directly and indirectly from the invasion to the Help for Heroes charity and present yourself at the Hague for a trial.

Balanced my arse.  cussing:

So Tony is winding up most of his money making empire and pouring his wealth and assets into his 'not for profit' organisation? Am I the only one who is wondering just what he is trying to hide or protect?

Ton Lehrer once said that irony died when Kissinger was awarded the Nobel peace prize. I think it's just been dug up, duested off and shot in the head again. St Tony is trying for the position of Middle East Peace Envoy with the Trump administration.  Banghead

Christ, he's up for another award. This time it's the Lincoln Leadership Prize, an award for people who show ‘great strength of character, individual conscience and unwavering commitment to the defining principles of democracy’ in the spirit of the 16th president of the US.

Strength of character? Individual conscience? commitment to the principles of democracy? Has someone changed the definitions of those terms while I wasn't looking?  Banghead

In my (and arguably a large portion of the population of this country's) opinion Bliar is a slimy corrupt cockroach who wouldn't know the truth if it walked up and kicked him in the bollocks, an unmitigated arse who would happily sell his own grandmother if it made him money. If Lincoln was alive today he'd be spitting blood and fire in justifiable rage that such an individual is now linked to his legacy.

I agree...

Except, I'm sure Bliar actually knows the truth - he just chooses to ignore it to suit his own requirements...

Certainly a very flawed man and the tragedies are that he was once brilliant but lost it big time and he now regularly digs his reputation deeper in that pit of poo.

This award is just shite and seems to be a way for an organisation that affects to be a charity to raise money

Well the announcement couldn't have made it clearer that it was Our Liz's decision and nothing to do with Downing Street.  I can only think  her thinking was that this might be her last chance to thank him for what he did for her especially in 1997.
