He was  a 14 stone Newfoundland who was a much loved local legend for being an essential part of of the team of lifeguards over at Sennen before the ruling about dogs not being allowed on the beach was passed. After that he and his owner toured the schools to promote the importance of surf safety.

Saved three lives in his lifesaving career not to mention the preventative work so I'd say so.

I met him a few times over the years, placid, friendly but bloody determined when the cry for help sounds.
