Poor bastard, finally finishes restoring an E-type and then on the first drive manages to slam it into a lamp post.  noooo:

Hard to work out how else he managed to hit that lamp post at that angle.  Sticking offside brake pads?

But look on the bright side.  The lamp post was OK
Well, whatever, nevermind

To be fair, I took the Mini out sans glass, doors, bonnet and boot once the engine was in...

It was only when we got up the road and heard a clonking sound that I remembered that the wheel nuts were only hand-tight...  redface:

looking at the skid marks on the second picture I'm guessing he took the turn too quickly and then tried getting back on the main road again.  rubschin:

To be fair (here we go again  redface:) I remember locking up my TR6 when approaching a roundabout in Reading many years ago - not that fast either...

...jumping out of a modern car with grippy tyres, decent brakes and power steering and into something from the 70s with none of those things really does need to be taken very seriously...

It is rather like going karting. You spend an hour zooming around in a machine that has about 90º lock-to-lock in the steering and have the fright of your life at the first roundabout when you are driving home afters!  lol:

How splendid!  ;D

Yes, strange The Daily Fail didn't mention the number of cake shops...  rubschin:

...or the value of his house which is very unusual for the Fail...  ::)
