I think that sounds like a bargain at 700 E's tbh., PROVIDING you are confident and knowledgeable enough to do some of the work yourself.
Minis are highly desirable amongst collectors now, and the vans, pickups in particular are fetching crazy money, probably because of their rarity.
I would consider a 1275GT to most definately to come into that catergory now too. Very very rare. Can't remeber the last time I saw one tbh.
Is there a Mini owners club out there by chance? Couild be worth having a word with some of the members if so, and taking someone with you to have a shuffties.

If you can afford the renovation GO for it!

Where's LL stand on this btw? scared2:  ;)  lol:

There is a Mini club here...

I'm taking a Cypriot mate from the Classic Car Club who has done a load of restorations (just finished a stunning Volvo Amazon)...

He can also check out all the registration paperwork (which is in Greek) and make sure it is pucka...

LL is not happy about it...  noooo:

Good man. Great minds think alike ey?  happy088

Updates and progrees reports regarding purchase and renovation WILL be required naturally. ;)

Take NO notice of LL btw.
They ALWAYS don't approve of boys and their toys.  noooo:
I get the same here, but as long as you show enthusiasm and excitement for the project, I find they buckle under the pressure. ;)

Quite right Growler...  cloud9:

I reckon if I can get rid of the 'spare' Mini in a reasonable time scale (strip off the bits I need and sell it or dump it) LL will be thrilled with it all....  whistle:

BTW there are some stunning Mini restorations documented here.  worthy:

Nuffink!  lol:

I need to set a budget for the refurb - any ideas...?

I guess it really depends on what it looks like when we go on Thursday although I won't buy it if the rust worm is really bad...

My mate says he'd spend ?6,000 but that would include a major upgrade of the mechanics and gearbox - I'm looking more to return it to original condition...

You should budget for a few thousand to get it back to ORIGINAL condition, and that includes the wheels.

I can't stand seeing a classic that's had all sorts of non standard parts fitted, and non period mods done, but it's all about personal taste I suppose?

3/4k should have that looking mint I reckon, but as you say, the rust needs to be thouroughly asessed.
Subframe is the BIG one.

I reckon it could be worth a tidy sum if renovated to a high standard.
Original mint mk1 Cooper S' s are worth 25-35k now apparently!  eeek:

Yours wouldn't fetch that obviously, but 7-9k should be attainable if you wanted to seel it I'd have thought.
The Mini owners club would give a better judgement on that though.

Good luck with the viewing and I hope it all goes well. confused:

What you should do for starters BM is move this thread to where it belongs ...  whistle:
