Does it werk if you are pished. like? rubschin:

It does... especially, "hey Google, increase volume"  redface:
Somehow the volume button on the remote seems less effort, a lot less

Depends where you are in relation to the remote of course...  whistle:
And IF you can find it

I detest voice input systems, as an avionics designer my bosses were always trying to get me to embellish proposals with how we'd add voice input and I'd pretend to humour them.  For simple commands it only works better than a button in very niche circumstances and it becomes a toy rather than a tool.  Imagine trying to fly your quadcopter with voice.

Horses for courses...

Sometimes a phone call is more efficient than a text message or e-mail.

In terms of Google Home it really works excellently and is much more efficient than a remote for keyboard input.
Yes but we were talking about increasing the volume not writing a sentence

Would you (do you?) use voice input for your posts here?

No, horses for courses... ::)

It is easier to ask it to increase the volume than find the remote or the appropriate ap on my phone or walk to the HiFi and twiddle the knob... It just really is.

I just asked it to play 'Revolution by the Beatles' and it is now playing... Much easier than finding the track on an ap or PC...
Ah now we understand.  You bought a cheap phone without those up down buttons on the side

My £4 bluetooth speaker has same linked by bluetooth to sync volume with the phone

But yes IF you want a particular track or the remote is hidden under a pile of lego bricks (or jammed by bread crumbs) then voice I/O has a place.  I just pick an album or music theme and let it play.
Well, whatever, nevermind

So after tests I declare that Fire Stick Alexa is effin useless.  Mostly she says something like "what?" but occasionally does mishear.  "Play the Beatles" interpreted as "I've selected this music for you (Creedence Clearwater Revival) "  ::)

But the Fire Stick itself is brilliant - especially for photos we've stored on Amazon so now I have two

How strange, she gets 3,000+ five star reviews on Amazon...?  rubschin:

Quote from: An Amazon Reviewer
Great quality and works very well. I already had a Prime subscription so the inclusion of all the videos and music is a real bonus. The Alexa voice recognition is amazing, you can even pell out the tricky words. No more fumbling around trying to find movies or series. I plug it straight into my AV amp HDMI input, and it works perfectly, giving me perfect 4K when available and full surround sound. The sound quality from this thing is brilliant. Like Google, I think Amazon own brand products are spot on.

Anyhoo, I'm still well impressed with the Google Home and Google Play Music combo, we spent all last night playing music and drinking collapso... Everything from pop, rock, classical, shows, opera, even classical guitar, "Play Asturias by John Williams", she was spot on with everything...  Thumbs:

Miss A (a huge Apple fanboy) was rather upset on Sunday when Google out-performed Siri...

Who won the FA Cup final in 1973?

Siri: Arsenal facepalm:
Google: Sunderland

Who was their manager?
Siri: shrugs:
Google: Bob Stokoe

And the answer to the inevitable question, "Hey Google, who is better, you or Siri?"

Google: Siri is a very good Siri and I am a very good Google!  lol:
