Could be interesting. Corbyn and co defeated and Brexit reversed??

Could be hysterical if the Labour and SNP MPs don't back this tomorrow and she has to wait 3 more years

What a sad choice we've got.  A would be Mrs T, a bearded saddo, a Harry Potter lookalike and Nutjob Nuttall.

Sounded nervous to me and it all came over that she'd been briefed that without this she would lose the Commons vote on the eventual EU-UK divorce deal

Last weekends poll is a far better position for her than she would be after such a 2018 humiliation so this is her only way of being PM in 2020.   What's going to be interesting is what else she puts in the manifesto.  I can see her transferring the foreign aid budget to a new dept for kicking peasants

I see that Osbourne has decided not to stand so that he can 'fight for Britain' as editor of the Evening Standard. In other words he knows that if he stood he'd get a hammering in the polls that he would never live down so he's going to save himself the humiliation and make a comeback at some point in the future when the peasants have forgotten just how much of a smug tosser he was.

I'm disappointed that he isn't standing, I'd have paid to see that smug look wiped off his face when his constituents tell him to bugger off at the poles.

Except as he has one of the safest seats in the country so no way was he going to get hammered so frankly I've seen better theories.

His problem was more subtle.  He was going to tough it out until 2020 when Tatton would no longer exist as a constituency and as an excommunicated non person by Saint Theresa he'd have no 2020 constituency to stand for under the new boundaries. He could go off to his 6 alternative careers as some sort of supposed martyr and probably imagined he'd become some sort of sub cult figure with a media career .

All got torn up when she went for an election on the current boundaries  lol:.

Have to say if he and May were both drowning and there was only one lifeline, I know which I'd throw it to and it wouldn't be that lying cow.   Osborne may be inept, charmless, self centred and with dodgy social values but he has at least played with a straight bat.

Truly awful but no worse than the car crash May had last night with the studio audience and the Paxo

I hate to say this but only one party leader is worth the title of leader and sadly she wants an independent Scotland
Title: Re: The all new sudden General Election thread

The problem is that for years now we have seen an increase of 'professional politicians' who spend little or no time in the real world instead working within their respective party from the beginning or having a non job such as PR. Ultimately this means we end up with party leaders who in the main haven't a clue about the people they claim to represent. Abbot's recent 7 lane pile up intervies interview where she screwed up police costs and figures and compared her prior support of the IRA to changing her hairstyle, Corbyn's car crash interview and May's dismal efforts with the studio audience are just the latest examples of this trend.

Combine that with the 'time honored' practice of using cabinet positions as bribes and rewards for faithful service instead of giving them to the people who would be the most capable for the position and it's no wonder this country is going to hell in a handbasket.

As for Sturgeon, no matter what she rants about I don't believe that she want's independence for Scotland. She knows that she is raking in huge amounts of money from Westminster and that without those funds there is no way to continue with free prescriptions, university education et al. Basically I can see her having her cake and eating it, getting more powers devolved to Scotland while either keeping or increasing the funds gained through the Barnett formula.

Just when I was thinking there couldn't be a Labour shadow minister who was more stupid that Abbot, Thornberry declares that we wouldn't be able to export food to Australia because it would go off by the time it gets there. Obviously she hasn't heard of refrigerated and frozen container ships, or possibly even home fridges and freezers.  noooo:

It's not like we'll have any spare food to export though is it.  We've been big food importers for over 100 years and a hard Brexit will reduce supply from Europe.

We've seen, both in the referendum and the previous general election just how 'inaccurate' these polls can be. The simple truth is that the majority of opinion polls are worthless now because of the way that they are put together. If you want a poll of say 1000 people you aim for 200 off the street and the rest done by phone which means you can contact the data supply companies and ask for specifically profiled data sets. Hell give me a grand and access to a call centre for a couple of days and I can give you an opinion poll set that predicts the Monster Raving Loony Party will win every seat. These polls are no longer objective and unbiased but have degenerated to propaganda tools.  noooo:

The polls might be correct, the Labour Manifesto reads like a Santa Claus wish list and could sway a lot of voters. Hell, I'll vote for all the goodies myself if I didn't believe it would bankrupt this country.

Replacing her hasn't been a 100% success either!

DIANE ABBOTT REPLACEMENT LYN BROWN SAID CORBYN “UNTENABLE” (https://order-order.com/2017/06/07/diane-abbott-replacement-lyn-brown-said-corbyn-untenable/)

Quote
Corbyn has replaced Diane Abbott with Lyn Brown as a “temporary” Shadow Home Secretary. That’s the same Lyn Brown who resigned last year from the Shadow Cabinet, saying the “the situation” in the party under Corbyn “is now untenable” and that “it’s time to go to the membership”. She said:

Quote
“Following the overwhelming vote of the parliamentary Labour party, it was with a heavy heart that I concluded that we had reached a tipping point and, for the good of the party and the country, I believe that we should seek a new leader.”
Brown also once shouted “for f*cks sake, move out of my f*cking way” at a blind journalist on the Parliamentary Estate. No Corbyn loyalists left to fill even the most important roles…

Farron's price will be making him Deputy Prime Minister (assuming that the SNP hasn't already taken that role) and having another referendum on leaving the EU because we were all too stupid to understand what we voted for last time.  Banghead

A sort of dodgy curate's egg result.  Happy to see the lying cow humiliated and Scottish independence kicked into the long grass but not good to see Corbyn do well.  Shame to see Goldsmith sneak back in and Robertson lose out.

Most worrying thing is we now have a government beholden to Ulster Unionists and the last time that happened people died in their thousands

She's going to try and hang on for longer than that and she won't make the mistake of a nearly end of uni year election again.  But this might just have been a sea change in terms of younger voters voting and after a year of Tory infighting and fraught EU negotiations who knows what might happen in the next election.

Now who was it here that signed up to Labour just to help get Corbers as leader?

Lord buckethead is everything that's great about uk politics. He stood against Chorizo May. His manifesto:
1. The abolition of the Lords (except me).

2. Full facial coverings to be kept legal, especially bucket-related headgear.

3. No third runway to be built at Heathrow: where we’re going we don’t need runways.

4. Ceefax to be brought back immediately, with The Oracle and other Teletext services to be rolled out by the next Parliament.

5. Regeneration of Nicholson’s Shopping Centre, Maidenhead.

6. Buckethead on Brexit: a referendum should be held about whether there should be a second referendum.

7. Nuclear weapons: A firm public commitment to build the £100bn renewal of the Trident weapons system, followed by an equally firm private commitment not to build it. They’re secret submarines, no one will ever know. It’s a win win.

8. Nationalisation of Adele: in order to maximise the efficient use of UK resources, the time is right for great British assets to be brought into public ownership for the common good. This is to be achieved through capital spending.

9. A moratorium until 2022 on whether Birmingham should be converted into a star base.

10. Legalisation of the hunting of fox-hunters.

11. New voting age limit of 16 to be introduced. New voting age limit of 80 to be introduced too.

12. Katie Hopkins to be banished to the Phantom Zone.

13. Stop selling arms to Saudi Arabia. Start buying lasers from Lord Buckethead.

14. Prospective MPs to live in the seat they wish to represent for at least five years before election, to improve local representation in Parliament.

15. Free bikes for everyone, to help combat obesity, traffic congestion and bike theft.

But I see you a Bucket manifesto and raise you an OMRLP manifesto https://www.loonyparty.com/2017-general-election-manicfesto/ (https://www.loonyparty.com/2017-general-election-manicfesto/)

The Loony party propose that voters will get a 30 day cooling off period during which, if you change your mind, didn’t like the result, or didn’t know what you were voting for, you can get your vote back.

Reduce the voting age to 16 (carried forward from our 1983 manicfesto) ..(nicked by labour))

Imigration policy
One in one out (carried forward from our 2015 manicfesto (nicked by UKIP))

Definite Popcorn: days

May has survived a lot through a combination of factors not least Corbyn's inability to score an open goal and her back benchers knowing that Ress Mogg is as general electable as a stuffed donkey.  I reckon she's more likely than not to still be PM as the summer recess starts.

I'm so glad though that I'm retired so don't have to fret about making sure I'm earning with these bozos running the country . . . . .
